Paid bills becoming unpaid after upgrade to QuickBooks 2016 Canada/US

You will notice the following three issues after upgrading to Quickbooks 2016 (Canada or US Editions)

  • Paid Bills showing as unpaid and show negative amounts
  • Missing Names from transactions
  • Vendor names are replaced with customer names
This is likely caused due to the bug in the upgrade process. If you notice this issue immediately after the upgrade, you should restore a previous backup and run the upgrade again. In some cases, the source data file will need to be repaired before upgrading the file again.

If you used your data file before noticing the issues, you will need to remove all the affected years of data from the file using a Quickbooks Recovery Service. For Canadian users, use this link for a data recovery service.
