How to Restore a Portable Quickbooks File?
- In Quickbooks, go to File > Open or Restore Company...
- Select Restore a portable file and click Next.
- Select the portable file and click Open.
- Click Next.
- Browse to the location where you want to save the restored file. (You may want to check with your IT support to make sure you are saving the Quickbooks data file to the correct location).
- Click Save.
If Quickbooks asks for a password, use the original password or the default Admin password Admin01
IMPORTANT: To ensure your attachments are maintained, when you restore a backup or Portable file, paste the "Attach" folder from the original Quickbooks folder into the same location as your restored company file if you change folder locations.
